Why Use Genuine Inks / Toner for Your Printer?

The question is commonly asked as to why genuine inks should be used, rather than (generally) cheaper generic brands or even refilled ink cartridges or toner.

Here are some reasons from Epson.

Epson Genuine ink cartridges - for perfect printing results

Using Genuine Epson inks your prints will be bright, vibrant and resistant to smudging or smearing, giving you results that you will want to keep and cherish. The high reliability of Epson genuine ink is guaranteed when you use an Epson printer, giving you long-lasting and trouble-free printing for years to come.

Perfect printing results are only possible when all three components - the printer, genuine ink and paper - work in perfect harmony with each other.

Smart Valve System

Epson's ink cartridges are equipped with the Smart Valve System, a high performance valve that regulates the flow of ink to ultra fine precision, enabling fast, but stable, high quality printing.

Intellidge

Genuine Epson cartridges are also installed with 'Intellidge', a unique memory chip that monitors cartridge status. It keeps you informed of the remaining ink level of each cartridge and lets you replace or swap your cartridges as you needed.

From the information above, some manufactures use memory or computer chips in the toner to monitor ink remaining or to know how many pages have been printed on this current consumable.

If the consumable is refilled, this chip may not be reset or re configured giving your printer incorrect information or even yourself the wrong data.

Print Heads on various consumables have a given life span or a maximum number of pages they are able to print. If the consumable is refilled, print quality can be reduced, ink or toner may leak causing printer damage and generally toner page life is less.
